Multiple Streams of Income
Multiple streams of income is what is working for me….and this is what I teach to other moms! I do not put all my eggs in one basket. Why? Because people lose their jobs, emergencies happen, companies go bankrupt, etc. I have come up with a system that works for me, and I want to share it with you.
(All of the steps below assume that you have a personal computer at home, and Internet access. If you do not have those two things, make it your priority to get those things first. You will have a very difficult time starting a home business without them. You CAN run to the library and do all your start-up research on their computers, but before long it will begin to eat up much of your time. Purchase a PC with your FIRST profits if you don’t have one at home. You don’t have to buy new! If you go to Dell’s website, http://www.dell.com/outlet they sell refurbished pcs and laptops for a HUGE discount!)
My personal belief is that no one can focus on more than 3 work opportunities at once! John Maxwell says that “too many priorities paralyze us”. Even 3 income priorities might be a little much for some and they should cut that back to only 2. But as stated before, emergencies happen and you want to make sure that you always have some money coming in! If you choose 3 wise work priorities, you can be fairly safe in knowing that at least one of those will always be bringing in some income if you are doing it right.
1. Find 3 things that you can do on our main site www.reallyworkingfromhome.com and start them 1 at a time until you are confident in each one. You’ll find Freelance Writing Resources, Small Business ideas, Direct Sales Opportunities and tons of other ideas that really work to bring in money!
2. Have a Garage Sale
Yes, I’m ALL ABOUT having a garage sale! For good reason: This will earn you some quick money that you can use as start-up for your new home business. Also, use this sale to demo your business. If you are considering selling hand-crafted necklaces on ebay or etsy, make a few and see how they sell. Listen to what people are saying about them. Use their comments and suggestions to make your craft better. Clean out your house and advertise your sale. Anything worthwhile that doesn’t sell at the garage sale (or if you are unable to have a garage sale), take quality pictures and sell the items on ebay or etsy. This will give you a lot of practice before you start-up anything full time.
3. Count the cost
Calculate how much money you made from all of your sales and compare this with the research you have done on starting your own business. Start 1 thing at a time and give it your all! Do it well! And then keep adding as you have the money to pay for your startup.
4. Make a daily plan and stick with it.
Write out your monthly, quarterly and yearly goals. Now, what will you have to do EACH DAY to accomplish those goals. How many hours can you commit to? Write it down and stick with it. Set office hours.
John Maxwell says “All true leaders have learned to say No to the good in order to say Yes to the best”. You will have to say No to quite a few things in the coming months to get your home business off the ground. Scrimp, save, don’t go out and get a pizza on Friday night when you can use that money to buy supplies or start-up your direct marketing business. You are an entrepreneur now. a MOMPRENEUR! You CAN do it, but it takes sacrifice on your part. Dave Ramsey always says you have to remember to “Live like no one else, so later you can live like no one else!” Why do you want to work from home? Is it to be with your family more? Is it to get out of debt? Keep your goal in mind and you will succeed!
