Tell us about yourself: My name is Heather and I am a Christian Stay at Home Homeschooling mom of three. Ages 11 years old, 6 year olds, and 4 years old. I’ve been a Christian for about 8 years, and I was baptized almost 4 years ago. I’m married to a Firefighter. I spend most of my time educating my kiddos, working on my business, and being a wife. I LOVE going to the movies with my husband. Date night is the highlight of me week, outside of going to church.

 

Give us a description of your company: Scentsy is a direct sales business that sells wickless candles. Our warmers are powered by a light bulb and make a great addition to any home decor. Outside of warmers, we also sell wax, room sprays, and car candles. 

 How long have you been in business? December 2009

How long have you been a Christian & share a little about your faith: I accepted Christ into my life 8 years ago after my oldest daughter and I were in a serious car accident. Before my car accident I believed in God but made every effort to deny Christ.

At first I accepted Christ out of fear, but that was all the Lord needed in order to come into my life and change me.

Over the next 8 years God has done nothing but work to draw me closer to Him. Almost 5 years ago my husband and I joined our very first church, and we were both baptized 4 years ago.

The last 4 years God has really just been working in me to grow a ministry He has placed on my heart to support and encourage the Christian Stay at Home Mom.

It’s been an awesome – yet not so straight and forward – journey. I am just so grateful God never gave up on me. If He can change my heart, He can change anyone’s heart!

 How has your faith in God inspired and helped grow your business? Well at the end of 2009 our family was given some bad news regarding my husbands job. And it made me realize that no matter what happens God is always in control of my life.

I also realized that there are a lot of Christian moms out there who have been called to stay at home with their children, but they don’t have the means, financially, to answer this call.

Some Christian Stay at Home Moms have to work at home in order to stay at home with their kids. In 2010 I became one of these moms. I have been a stay at home mom for 11 years and I am devoted to keeping it that way.

In my ministry to help support and encourage the CSAHM, I also understand that working from home is just one aspect of the CSAHM. Sometimes working from home is a necessity.

I’m very grateful to the Lord for leading me to Scentsy, and for giving me the opportunity to grow an online business. It helps me to fulfill the calling to be a stay at home homeschooling mom that God has placed on my heart.

 What Advice can you give to other moms thinking about starting their own business?  1. ) Pray about what God would want you to do. Ask for Him to open doors that only He can open and close doors that only He can close. Also don’t be afraid to reach out to other Christians to pray for you as well.

2.) Be sure to discuss your thoughts about working from home with your husband. Having the support of your husband is going to be crucial to your work at home success.

3.) Choose a business that you can feel comfortable talking about. If you don’t feel comfortable telling your family and friends about your new business then it will be difficult to tell a perfect stranger about your business. Ask yourself if what you are going to be selling is something you can easily bring up in regular conversations.

I have found Scentsy to be that business that’s easy to talk about , for me. It’s a great product, and something I am passionate about.

 What are the start up costs and required purchase to stay active: The start up cost is $99 plus any shipping or tax. The only requirement to stay active is to sell at least $150 within one month during a three month period. So if you join in January, you will have three months to make $150 in sales during one month. I made my first $150 in sales during my first two weeks of joining.
