Tell us about yourself: I was born and raised in south Georgia, and my husband (Justin) was born and raised on the western slopes of Colorado. We met in Arizona in 2005 and got married in Vegas in 2008 about the same time Return to Eden Cosmetics was founded. I love growing tropical plants (I have hibiscus, orchids, and a bird of paradise in Colorado). Our reef aquarium and dogs keep life plenty interesting. When I’m not at my day job or making lotion (which for me IS a hobby), I like gardening, reading, and spending time outdoors with Justin.

Give us a description of your company: Safe, Effective, Natural skincare at an affordable price. Give your skin the nourishment it needs. We use clinically proven levels of active ingredients such as Coenzyme Q-10, Vitamins A, C, & E, Hyaluronic Acid, and peptides, which stimulate collagen synthesis, in our skincare products. ALL of Return to Eden Cosmetics’ products contain at least 97% natural, naturally derived, and/or food grade ingredients. And, I (Brandy) formulate (fancy word for make) ALL of the products. My intention is to create a quality product and a quality business where integrity is not compromised. I see transparency as key in promoting my products and my business. I want my customers equipped with as much information as possible on ingredients in Return to Eden Cosmetics’ products so that they can make an informed decision when it comes to their choice in skincare.

How long have you been in business? 2 years

How long have you been a Christian & share a little about your faith: I have always intuitively known I was Christian. I didn’t go to church much growing up and always felt it was a place to be judged, not a place to be accepted. My grandfather’s favorite line was “You can worship God just as well under a tree as you can in a church.” I abided by his logic. I’d read the Bible cover to cover by the time I was in my second year of college, I prayed, and I kept a journal. After moving to Atlanta, I found the first and only church I have ever enjoyed attending, a non-denominational church, and the preacher knows how to preach! I still listen to his sermons online. I’ve read CS Lewis and multiple Christian apologetics (one of my favorite past times is engaging some of my friends who aren’t Christian in theological discussions), and it seems every time I complete a book, I am even more in awe of Christ and His Sacrifice.

How has your faith in God inspired and helped grow your business? There’s a saying when you’re looking for a job, “It helps to know someone on the inside.” I have worked at a nuclear power plant, the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, the Cancer Research Institute in Arizona, and BASF in North Carolina, and I didn’t know a single person working at any of those places. How did I get so lucky? God, of course. NOBODY is that lucky on their own. I’ve been through some rough patches, but I have NEVER felt abandoned. I can see the hand of God in my life, whether anyone else can or not, and that is what gave me the strength to start this business, and that is what continues to give me the strength to carry on.

What Advice can you give to other moms thinking about starting their own business? Have faith, and keep a record. You lose sight of the small triumphs and perspective of the tasks ahead when you don’t keep a record. Without faith, every hill becomes a mountain and the valley between too deep to conquer.
