There were a couple of things about this book that I really liked! The first was that Angel was portrayed as a “real person”. She struggled with keeping a “perfect” weight and had difficulty in her relationship with food. This is such a common and big problem today and yet it is hardly ever talked about in books that still paint the heroines out to be skinny gorgeous creatures. Having Angel come across as a real woman with real problems and a real body was a breath of fresh air!

I also enjoy the fact that it focuses on the fact that as a new Christian there are things in your life that have to change, even when it’s not easy to change them!

And of course, it is also contains a love story which was sweet and fun! The characters are all fun and real, and it was a very easy and fun read. I would definitely recommend it!

If you enjoy classic romance stories you’ll enjoy this book! Rebekah Taylor is longing for the day her sweetheart will propose, only to have him tell her their dreams will have to wait as he’s going to serve his country. The rest of the story follows the journey of their relationship together and apart. This book was interesting and easy to read, if a bit predictable. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys “chick flicks” or literature about early America!
