That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 

2 CORINTHIANS 4:16-18 NLT

Being a good mom is a true mission from God that can sometimes be demanding and draining.  It is not selfish to try and keep your spiritual, physical and emotional tanks full. You should actually make this a priority so that you can be all that God wants you to be for your family.  Ask yourself the following questions:

What is draining to you? Who can you ask to help you with these things to make them less draining? What is energizing to you? When can you fit some of these things into your schedule? Is your spirit being renewed by spending time alone with God, even if its just a few minutes a day to get focused? 

As these verses say, our “troubles”, (in our case this could refer to our children at the moment) are quite literally “small and won’t last very long.” Your God given mission for the next few years is to be a great mom to your kids.  They grow up fast and will soon be out of the house, but the time and love and energy that you have put into them will last forever.

Lord, help me not to give up or lose heart.  Help me to be renewed on the inside and fix my gaze on you. Amen.
