I am a work at home mom to two beautiful toddler girls! My favorite item is the Medium Purse. I can fit 2 sippy cups, diapers, wipes, changing pad, my wallet, keys and other necessities just fine in this purse.  And I can still find my cell phone and sunglasses!

I have been an Independent Consultant with Thirty-One Gifts for 5 months but have been in some type of direct sales for more than 15 years.

I was born and raised in  Christian family so I have been a Christian my whole life! I truly thank God for all the blessings in  my life, especially my girls and my husband. While I have had a blessed life, it hasn’t been without challenges.  I think my strength in my faith as a Christian has helped me get through the challenges and prosper.  While I may not always understand the challenges God gives me, I work hard to see the opportunity to grow and the lesson to be learned.

How long have you been a Christian & share a little about your faith: I have been a born again Christian since I was 12 from my best memory. I have been spirit filled for 15 years, I attend a spirit filled, full gospel church and sing on the worship team. Things may not always be easy or “feel good” but they are necessary and all used for His Glory and Good. My faith in God, the love for self and others and to bring forth a positive message in which others can see Christ through me is my inspiration.  I have been a lifelong member of the Mountain Top Presbyterian Church located in Northeastern Pennsylvania for my whole life. Having been baptised, confirmed, and married there, I have been blessed with having the chance to grow up surrounded by a loving and supportive church family, a amall town place of worship where I can always return to and easily feel at home. It is there where I have come to learn and know God’s love and His word and where my husband and I continue this with our son.

 So what made Vanessa join the mommy & small business blog world?? She puts it this way: “God gave me these special gifts (writing, cooking, crafting) and an innate desire to share and teach others about them. I look at my blog and craft shop as another window that God has opened for me so I can continue to use my gifts to the best of my ability. Two of my favorite verses that I feel describe me the best right now are: “She looks for wool and flax and works with her hands in delight.” -Proverbs 31:13 (NIV), and “She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. I was a Children’s Minister over 30 years and now I’m in Women’s Ministry as a Teacher/Speaker. I use my gifting as a Potter/Sculptor to teach about God’s love and interest in His vessels of clay while throwing the pots on a pottery wheel. My favorite thing to do with clay is carefully press a new baby’s handprint in clay. Seriously, they are adorable and make fabulous gifts!

There are other books waiting to be published, handprints to make, bible studies to teach, ceramic shows to be in and balance to keep. That’s not even including the house and yard maintenance. How long have you been in business? This business since April 2009

 How long have you been a Christian & share a little about your faith:  I made sure I was a Christian in 1975 while pregnant with our last child. The term, Born Again had been in the news because of Jimmy Carter becoming President and I asked someone what it meant. Before that I’d never heard about being sure, just working hard to at least try to be sure.

As a child I loved God and wanted to know Him. When first saved later as an adult, I realized the desire for more knowledge of the Word of God was so intense, I had to go to bible college. The books that are in print today were formed and published during the time I taught children.

Now I’m in Women’s Ministry teaching and speaking. Of course there are so many more stories in this short testimony, but they can be heard when you hear me speak at a women’s conference. 

How has your faith in God inspired and helped grow your business?  How could my faith in God not inspire and help me grow this business? It was based on Him from the beginning! He put the ‘dream in my heart’ and He provides the way to bring it to pass. My part is to listen and understand the plan.

In the Word of God (Amplified) it points to ‘the leaning of the entire human personality on Him’. I believe learning how to be led by His Spirit inside us is the beginning of that ‘leaning of the entire human personality on Him’. ‘Lean on Him’ or ‘Lean years in sales’…what would you choose? 

What Advice can you give to other moms thinking about starting their own business? Having knowledge of how a business is set up is extremely useful. If you don’t have that, this organization helps in that area. Knowledge is important, and understanding how to use that knowledge is important. But never forget that ‘one thing’ that sparked the idea for your business. Being a Christian means God is the One Who has put a dream in your heart, to be what He has planned for you to be. A business is only one part of that dream. He says in His Word that He will help you know what that dream is, understand it and then He’ll even help you fulfill it.

We’re frustrated when we make our own choices apart from Him and then ask Him to bless them. Busy-ness is not the same as business. Yes, you will be busy, but don’t forget where you get your life from….your ideas, your inspiration, your next move. Never ‘take off and run’ on inspiration without checking what He wants you to do in your life.

  Share a little about you and your family.   My family consists of my husband, Killian, and my three boys, Killian (11), Ryan (9) and Jeffrey (8).  We also have a cat named Edmund and two rabbits, named Phineus and Pherb.   The boys would like to add a dog to the mix, but we will wait on that right now.  However, my husband and I love dogs, so we may get one sooner than later.

We enjoy the outdoors and like to go tent camping, hiking and biking.  We just recently got a canoe, so we can add canoeing to our interests. 

 How long have you been a Christian and share a little about your faith. I was raised Catholic and attended CCD classes once a week and went to church every Sunday.  But I would say I didn’t become a true Christian until I established a relationship with the Lord about 8 years ago.  Before then, I basically went through the ritual of going to church every week but not developing a “relationship” with our Lord and savior.  My faith is very strong and I turn to God for guidance on almost everything.  I trust in HIM and I know that whatever his plans are for me they will always be for good.  God loves, he protects, he strengthens, he gives us his grace, and he is our refuge.

What is the best part of being a Mommy Bag Marketing Coordinator? As a mom of young children, I had prayed for over a year that I would find a job in the Christian job market where I can be at home, and take my marketing skills (before becoming a stay at home mom I worked in Direct Mail Marketing for 10 years) and combine them with a career in event planning (which I’ve always loved).  I searched on-line and in the newspapers and I came across an opportunity with Mommy Bag Marketing.  My prayers had been answered!!!  Choosing the “best” part of Mommy Bag Marketing is difficult.  All 4 things combined, Christian, Home-Based, Marketing, and Event coordinating, are what make it the ‘perfect” fit for me.  But, I’d say the best part is that I get to develop relationships with fellow Christians who want to spread the word of Jesus Christ.    

 Share something fun or silly about yourself. I find it amusing that I have become a “bin-a-holic”.  It all started when my boys started playing with toys and scattering them everywhere and organization went out the window.  I have to put everything in bins.  I can’t stop buying bins (plastic bins, cloth bins, woven bins, big bins, little bins…bin, bins, bins).  It used to be baskets, but now its bins.  I go to the dollar store and I don’t buy one bin, I buy 8 or 10 (small bins of course).  The good thing is I don’t buy a lot of big ones (I am frugal and will only buy bins on sale or cheap), so that keeps costs down.   If you open my drawers in my kitchen you’ll find items separated into bins (bins for potatoes, bins for snacks, bins for nuts, etc).  Bin anybody?????

It’s pretty sad when the only silly thing I can find about myself is a bin obsession.  I used to be a lot more fun before children, but I wouldn’t trade anything in the world for being a mom of three incredibly adorable and funny, energetic boys, and a wife to the best husband/father anyone could ask for.

What is your vision for Mommy Bag Marketing in your area?  One vision I have is to create such a buzz about Mommy Bag Marketing, Inc. that my phone is ringing from those requesting bags for their events which in turn will generate exposure for those advertising with us.

1. Share a little about you and your family.  My family and I are very close – we do just about everything together – I often tell my hubby that he needs to go out and hang with the guys sometimes (and no I’m not trying to get rid of him – LOL!) and his response is always that he’d rather be with us when he’s not working.  We like to play games together, going to the beach is always a favorite and we also like to have movie nights.  

 How long have you been a Christian and share a little about your faith.  I received Jesus as my saviour when I was just a 9-year-old little girl so I have grown up in church just about all my life.  My faith is God has gotten me through lots of trials … I can testify that He is ALWAYS faithful and is there just when you need Him.
