The first and most important productive me time you can have is to be sure to make time for God each day. Whether you call this devotions, prayer, Bible reading, meditation, whatever–just do it! My days and my attitude are always so much better when I make sure to include this as a part of my day! If you make time for nothing else 10 minutes reading the Bible and praying throughout the day will change your life! (you can even do it online these days and find great commentaries and devotions too!!!)

Another great idea for Me time is to take a class in something you’re passionate about or have always wanted to learn. Whether it’s an online course or maybe just some internet tutorial found over Youtube (I recently just learned how to give my self side bangs that turned out pretty stinking great if I say so myself) you will feel great learning and growing and many of these things can even translate into money making opportunities, if desired. Otherwise they’re just enriching your life and helping your brain to stretch and think beyond baby food and the ABC song!

Work! Ok, that sounds totally wrong right? However, if you’re working from home you will absolutely need to be doing something that you love, enjoy, and are passionate about. Because of this if you have a job you love to do it no longer feels like work and you’re happy to combine “me time” and “work time” Most of my me time is filled in this way, in the evenings the books I read for pleasure are ones that I will review on my personal blog where I host reviews and giveaways. When I’m blogging for fun most of the time it’s for reviews or giveaways which in turn bring in goodies for my family. Right now I’m “relaxing” while writing this with the kids in bed. Because I love writing nearly all my work feels like “me time”.

When you can find things that will not only help you relax and feel like an adult again, but will also grown, enrich, and strengthen your life you will become a peaceful, happy, contented person!

My favorite idea was how she suggested sorting and storing the toys. She suggested ziploc bags of all sizes to group similar things, and baskets for things like books. I had these things sitting around my house but hadn’t used them for storing toys. Now Amber’s little princesses and dresses are all together in a cute pink clear snap bag I had and her books that wouldn’t find in the book case are off the floor and in pretty baskets.

Another tip was to not use great big boxes to store anything but stuffed animals. I had a huge cardboard box in the closet and Amber basically never touched anything in it. Last week I went through, realized most of the stuff in there was bags and not even things Amber would play with, threw away all the cheap/broken happy meal toys, and put the rest in groups in her closet. She’s playing with them all again!

I am a work at home mom to two beautiful toddler girls! They are 13 1/2 months apart and keep me busy.  I left the corporate world almost 3 years ago to stay home and take care of my first daughter.  Prior to working at home, I worked in retail and sales.  I have more than 20 years experience in sales, marketing and public relations.  

Give us a description of your company:

Thirty-One Gifts is a faith based company founded by Cindy Monroe in 2003.  We have stylish and affordable purses, totes, storage solutions and accessories to fit any need and any style.  The patterns are exclusive to Thirty-One and change every season for a fresh new look!

The name Thirty-One comes from the verses of Proverbs 31. The[H1] Proverbs 31 woman is dearly loved and respected by him and her children, yet she is an individual in her own right. She manages the home and property with kindness and integrity. Her savvy business skills are partly brought about by her desire to serve others, to do good deeds and prosper. 

What is your favorite item that you personally own from Thirty-One?

My favorite item is the Medium Purse. Even though the name is “medium” it’s a really big purse that I can carry around everything I need for me and my girls.  I don’t have to carry around the “traditional” diaper bag anymore! I can fit 2 sippy cups, diapers, wipes, changing pad, my wallet, keys and other necessities just fine in this purse.  And I can still find my cell phone and sunglasses!

How long have you been in business?

I have been an Independent Consultant with Thirty-One Gifts for 5 months but have been in some type of direct sales for more than 15 years.

How long have you been a Christian & share a little about your faith:

I was born and raised in  Christian family so I have been a Christian my whole life! I truly thank God for all the blessings in  my life, especially my girls and my husband. While I have had a blessed life, it hasn’t been without challenges.  I think my strength in my faith as a Christian has helped me get through the challenges and prosper.  While I may not always understand the challenges God gives me, I work hard to see the opportunity to grow and the lesson to be learned.

How has your faith in God inspired and helped grow your business?

More than ever before, I see how important it is to be aligned with a faith based company.  Now that I am surrounded by like-minded people who cherish Him, I have flourished personally and professionally.  I struggled with other direct sales companies because their goals and my beliefs were out of alignment.  Now everything fits together perfectly and I truly enjoy everyone I work with.  I think I have found my “calling” to help other moms build their business and help them achieve their goals, no matter what they may be.

Crafting for Causes — Heartfelt Homemade Blessings

Do you like to crochet, knit, or make other handmade items and crafts?  Ever thought of putting these hobbies to use for the benefit of others?  That’s exactly what Vanessa Walker, creator of Heartfelt Home Creations craft shop and blog, had in mind when she started a group called Heartfelt Homemade Blessings. Originally created for interaction with other crafters on Facebook, Heartfelt Homemade Blessings has turned into a means of helping others in need near Vanessa’s home in Pennsylvania, as well as nationally and internationally!

With her friend Shauna Smith (creative crafter behind Momma’s Creative Crafts) by her side as  co-administrator of the group, these two Christian gals started to find ways to put their God-given crafting abilities to ”good use”.   Just last month Heartfelt Homemade Blessings donated 31 infant caps to the Goodgoes.org “Caps for Good Campaign“, as well as various handmade valentines for Etsy’s “Special Delivery: Share Your Love 2011” project.  But the crafting doesn’t stop there!

Vanessa and Shauna would like to encourage others to share in their crafting ministry and join Heartfelt Homemade Blessings’ future projects!  It’s free to join and become involved, and you don’t have to be a crafter to be a “member”.   You can find Heartfelt Homemade Blessings on Facebook here and Ravelry.com here.   The group is currently crocheting granny squares for Crochet-a-Rainbow and is hoping to receive enough squares from group members to submit a full-sized blanket/afghan for the cause in the upcoming months.  Any suggestions for causes that the group may contribute their crafting abilities to are more than welcome!
